Boek in Beeld is an online programme full of short animated book reviews about books on the Dutch high school reading list - it combines two of my favourite things: books and animation!
Some of them are made by me (like the one for "Drift" by Bregje Hofstede on the right), and this page shows a bit of my process
Based on the book cover, the voice over provided by NTR and the atmosphere of the book, I create a storyboard
Animation is done in TVPaint
I create backgrounds, often using analogue lines and/or textures, and make a cohesive image in Photoshop
Then I put it all together in After Effects, add moving textures and effects to make it look nicer (like the glow behind the text messages) or add something to the story (like the offset white line in this video for Drift, which represent the main character's connection or lack thereof to herself)
