I am Sanne Brouwer, a Dutch animator, illustrator and screenwriter based in Utrecht.
I graduated from HKU (Utrecht University of the Arts) in 2021, and ever since I've been on a meandering journey in the art world that's seen many different (side) roads, from bartending to Dutch Film Fund applications.

My artist's practice is ever-evolving and has many different sides, including, among other things, directing, teaching at Buitenkunst, screenwriting and illustration - a variety that I love and thrive on!

My work mainly revolves around sparking charm, humour and wonder. There is often an otherworldly element and a gentle, safe ambience to what I make, and I aim to tell stories that feel real. I also have a deep appreciation for good 2D animation and love using analogue materials.Â
In my films, I translate internal mental workings into visual narratives using approachable character art, a mix of analogue and digital techniques, and rich, harmonious colours and compositions.
